A little about me.
I'm Niranjan Madak — Senior Software Engineer at Infosys and founder of MadakLabs, a boutique software studio for startups and SMBs. I've spent the past 6+ years building things: web apps, mobile apps, SaaS products, and everything in between.
I'm based in Lucknow, India. While my core expertise lies in Java and Spring Boot, I have also built solutions using React, Next.js, React Native, Node.js. More importantly, I approach technology as a means to solve problems — I learn, adapt, and implement whatever stack best fits the project or product needs, rather than limiting myself to a predefined toolkit.
The short version
I got into software engineering because I liked the idea of building something from nothing. That feeling hasn't gone away. What's changed is my appreciation for how hard it is to build something that actually works, scales, and gets used by real people.
At Infosys, I've led teams, delivered large-scale projects, and learned how enterprise software really works — not the textbook version, but the real one with legacy code, organizational constraints, and stakeholders who change their minds.
MadakLabs is the other side: small, fast, scrappy. Working directly with founders to ship software in weeks to months, not quarters. I started it because I saw a real gap — smart people with good ideas who couldn't find a trustworthy engineer to work with.
The longer version
I grew up in a household where nobody was technical. My first computer was a secondhand Laptop my brother bought when I was 18. I spent the first year breaking it. The second year I figured out how to fix it. Somewhere in there, I got hooked.
I studied Computer Science at AKTU Lucknow,UP, which was formative but mostly because of what happened outside the classroom — coaching, open-source contributions, and the kind of arguments about architecture that only happen when you're young and convinced you're right about everything.
I began my IT career in 2020 with HCLTech, where I spent 2.5 years as a Java developer on a core ITSM product for HCL Software. My work focused on modernizing the platform and building distributed systems, including the Request Management, Change Management, Foundation, and Item modules. I also set up CI/CD pipelines to deploy these systems on Google Cloud Platform, which taught me firsthand how applications are delivered to the internet and accessed by people worldwide — an experience that felt almost magical at the time and gave me a deep appreciation for the craft of software delivery.
MadakLabs was born out of a simple observation: many small businesses with real problems struggled to find engineers who truly engaged with their needs. Agencies often over‑promised and under‑delivered, while freelancers disappeared midway. On top of that, most charged fees far beyond the budgets of these businesses. I wanted to be different — someone who shows up, understands the problem, and delivers reliable solutions at nearly one‑third the typical cost, without compromising on quality. MadakLabs exists to make professional software development accessible, affordable, and genuinely impactful for startups and SMBs.
